THE MUSE

Updated: Aug 2, 2019

Magical Muses

“All of us need to be in touch with a mysterious, tantalising source of inspiration that teases our sense of wonder and goads us on to life's next adventure.” - Rob Brezsny

Ahhhh, the delicious feeling of divine inspiration! Have you felt it? When the Muses come knocking on the door of your heart and share their gifts of creativity and vision? I’ve been blessed, sometimes with a quiet whisper, sometimes with a blinding strike of clarity.

In Greek mythology the Muses were known as the 9 sister-goddesses and daughters of Zeus and Mnemosyne, and they have inspired art and creativity throughout the ages. Each is graceful, captivating, beautiful to behold and gifted with a particular talent in the arts and sciences. The Muses delight us with their creative gifts and inspire us to forge ahead in our creative endeavours.

If you are one of those brave inventive souls who own a business, or share your talents via your paid vocation in some way (whether via music, healing, coaching, writing, teaching and many other noble modalities) you too may have been blessed by the Muses. And I’d guess that at some stage you have also experienced the depletion that can come with the pressure to be constantly creative and sharing your special gifts in flow.

I’ve felt that depletion. I’ve prayed for the muses to visit my studio and bless me with inspiration for a particular project. But the Muses are elusive energies! Certainly not to be relied upon day-to-day in the material realm. But this realm holds many beauties that I class as my own personal muses; earthly goddesses and divine masculine heroes, who share their offerings for all to see.

My personal earthly muses change from time to time, year to year, but I’d like to share some of my current personal muses with you.

Syren – muse of music Tara Zhinu – muse of ancient feminine wisdom Bat for Lashes – muse of music and aesthetic

Rose Namajunas – muse of physicality and courage

Rumi – muse of poetry and mysticism Neil Kramer – muse of wisdom and esoteric knowledge

If you could do with more inspiration in your life, I highly recommend you find muses that speak to you. Keep them close and channel their essence when you need it.
